Discipline:
I believe in positive reinforcement, self-regulation, and clear behavior expectations in the classroom. While fostering an environment based on the love of Christ and treating others as one wishes to be treated, our discipline policy also includes use of an Honor Card. Our Honor Card has specific demerits listed, and each demerit coincides with a percentage earned for the student's conduct grade for the week. 1- 90%B 2-80%C 3-70%D 4-60% F 5- 0% and the student must walk laps at recess for a week. |
Homework:
St. James homework policy is that 4th grade students should have 40 minutes of homework nightly, 5th grade students should have 50 minutes, and 6th grade should have sixty minutes. For the Math/Science/Social Studies portion of the allotted homework time the nightly homework is as follows: Mathematics: (Moby Max link) 15 minutes of Math lessons, 5 minutes of Fact Fluency Social Studies: 10 minutes of reading, usually from the Studies Weekly Curriculum. Science: Only if we are working on an out of class project. Most of our Science is completed in class. (As well as any class work not completed in class.) |
Course Study:
The curricula used are as follows: My Math (McGraw-Hill) Nancy Larsen Science Studies Weekly for Social Studies |
